That is a good find, E! I'd forgotten about the "many suitors."  Now, at least, it makes more sense. (kind of like leaving Tom Bombadil out of LotR: PJ said it doesn't mean they didn't see Tom on the way; it just wasn't shown)

I think one of the best performances in that movie was Miraz. He wasn't overdoing anything, as with some villains which you think go over the top. He was a very interesting character.
I read in the book about the movie that this was his first part as a bad character, after a career of about thirty years.
