I think it's hard to tell from Lord of the Rings that Tolkien himself was a romantic, but this certainly proves it. -------------------- There's more to life than books, you know. But not much more. I mean, there aren't many love stories except if you read the Silmarillion or the appendices of LotR... not in LotR as the story. But now when I think about it, the Lord of the Rings was all one really big love story to one degree or another. not necessarily man-woman wise but the strong fellowship and compassion that was present and necessary to make such a story possible. having a few more years of experiences and friends, along with a few heart-breaks, makes me appreciate the style of writing that Tolkien exhibited.
